Description

One more visit to M101, before the northern skies fade out for the summer. This might be the last image for the season.

Messier 101, also known as the Pinwheel Galaxy, is estimated to contain billions of stars. The exact number is difficult to determine due to the galaxy's extent and limited observational techniques, its stellar population is estimated to be between 100 billion and 1 trillion stars.
